SAFF champions 2013

SAFF championship has been won by Afghanistan. South Asian Football Federation championship final match held today between Afghanistan and India. Afghanistan entered after beating Nepal in semi-final whereas India entered finals after beating Maldives. In today’s final, Afghanistan won India by 2-0.

 The match started with a huge excitement and Afghanistan started their game at the beginning stage. The first goal of the grand Finale was made by Mustafa Azadzoy at the 9th minute of the game and made their fans feel the confident level at the beginning stage. Next to that, Afghanistan got back to back corners but Indian’s defended it. It was quite interesting today because of these two team combination.

Today Afghanistan defeated India and made their maiden SAFF championship. India’s dream of making their hat-trick SAFF championship was defeated by Afghans. Today Afghan players was cheered up by their parliamentarians. A group of parliamentarians of Afghanistan came to watch the grand finals today. One among them made Afghan players more motivated by his announcement. He announced that, if Afghanistan win the match, every Afghan players in the squad will get an apartment and $25,000 of cash price.

After the first goal, Indians made a good play with some built-ups and that made Afghanistan to tightened their defense and mainly play a defense game. The first half ended with a goal by Afghanistan and no goals by India

Afghanistan revenge:

India is ranked 145 and Afghanistan ranks 139 globally. This final match is a chance for Afghanistan to make their revenge. Afghanistan had lost the match against India in their first appearance in finals held at New Delhi during 2011. Afghanistan faced a great defeat against India in 2011 by 0-4. The Afghanistan coach says that, he and his team has not forgotten the match and their defeat. India have won SAFF championship 6 times of the 10 times SAFF history and India made their way to final nine times in the total of 10 times.

The second half begins and India is usually said as slow goal makers. So it was expected by  Indians fans that India to make their first goal in early stage of second half. But the match looked much defensive on both sides. After some time, at the 62nd minute Afghanistan marked their second goal. Sanjar Ahmai is the person to make the second goal for Afghanistan. Indians were very eager to make their goals but finally the match ended with 0-2.
