This is a great inspirational story. A girl becoming a Doctor at the age of 13. Its really hard to believe but it happened in India. A girl belonging to a daily wage laborer’s family from Lucknow becoming a doctor at the age of 13.

Sushma Verma is the teen girl from Lucknow who made this inspirational achievement. She had been honored by the Limca Book of Records by describing her as the “Youngest matriculate in India”. She completed her high school at the age of seven. She took the Combined Pre-Medical Test at the age of ten. She completed her BSc in Botany and Zoology form a Lucknow University affiliated college. Support for education:
She says that his family is responsible for her achievement. Her elder brother and her father used to teach her. Her brother name is Shailendra. Her brother too was like her because he did his high school at the age of 9 and his BCA at the age of 14. After 6 years now at his age of 20, he is working and doing MCA at Bangalore. Due to the poor background, there was 6 years gap between the education. Sushma Verma used to study her brother books too. Her brother used to teach her Maths and English and her father who was daily wage labor thought her Hindi because he studied till VIII.

Now for Sushma’s first semester fees, her father had saved money by selling their field in the village. The fees was about Rs.25,000. He is blank about how he can make the second semester fees. He had written to the Chief Minister and hopes that he will get help from the government. He also requested Lucknow University for fees waiver.

Beginning at the Lucknow University, she said she was nervous because her classmates are a lot older than her. But now she had many friends and enjoying her college life along with her studies. She said that her next goal is to be doctor but she is not sure about it because there are days to decide it. She may also do PhD after her MSc.
Family:
Besides her achievement, her childish innocence being with her to enjoy her life. She came from a daily wages laborer’s family and had many dreams. Tej Bahadur Verma is her father being a daily wage labor. Her house is very small with only a single room which includes kitchen within it.  She said, “I am happy with what we have. Of course, I too want a lot of things”.  She also added that, she is thanking the God for gifting her with the art of learning.

Sushma had a lot of wishes but, she adds that everything can’t be fulfilled. She is happy with what she have gifted.
